Job Title: Data Manager
Reports To: Chief Scientific Officer (Principal Investigator)
FTE / Level of Effort: Part-time (Estimated 400 hours annually) for 22 months

Position Summary:
The Data Manager will oversee the integration, quality assurance, and maintenance of data systems used in the EnergyPoints Phase II SBIR clinical trial. Working closely with the Principal Investigators, Statistician, Statistical Consultant, and broader research team, the Data Manager will ensure accurate and timely data flow between REDCap Cloud, the EnergyPoints app backend (MySQL), and reporting systems. This role is critical to supporting clean, analyzable data for internal decision-making, monitoring of trial progress, NIH reporting, and eventual publication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup and configuration of REDCap Cloud for clinical trial data collection, Manage and monitor the flow of data between REDCap, the EnergyPoints app, and MySQL databases
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to data collection, syncing, and system integration; serve as a REDCap liaison for any technical issues
- Collaborate with the Statistics Team to export, transform, and clean datasets for analysis
- Generate regular data reports for team review and quality checks including for the Data Safety and Monitoring Committee
- Document data structures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reproducibility and transparency
- Prepare de-identified datasets for secure submission to the designated NIH data repository
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Health Informatics, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience in data management, preferably in a research or digital health setting; 2 years’ experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in database systems, including MySQL and REDCap
- Experience with data quality assurance, cleaning, and reporting
- Ability to manage data securely in compliance with HIPAA and NIH guidelines
- Familiarity with statistical programming or querying tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL, SAS) is strongly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
Additional Notes:
This position is funded through a Phase II NIH/NCI Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The role is remote and structured for approximately 400 hours per year (approximately 8–10 hours/week). Hours may vary depending on trial phase and data demands.
Start Date: Rolling, with immediate availability preferred
Duration: Through end of grant period (anticipated 22 months), with potential for extension based on funding and performance
Salary Range: $35 to $40/hour
